Bids for Meat Goats Now Being Accepted for 41st Annual World Championship Barbecue Goat Cook-off

The Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting bids for goats in preparation for the 41st Annual World Championship Barbeque Goat Cook-Off this Labor Day weekend. Bids will be accepted from anyone interested in providing Spanish-Boer Cross goats for the event, and pricing should include the cost of the meat, processing and packaging. All goats should be sealed in plastic bags for cold storage.

A total of 125 goats are needed for this year’s event. Specifications are as follows:

105 goats #1 Kid Goats (50-60 lb.) cut into barbeque halves for the cookers.

20 goats (60+ lb.) for public consumption. These goats should be cut into six parts (shoulders, loins/racks, hams/legs)

Goats should packaged and chilled, not frozen, upon pick-up on Friday, August 30th at 3pm.

The deadline for submission of a goat bid is Friday, July 18th and can be mailed or hand delivered to the Chamber of Commerce at 101 East 1st Street in Brady, Texas 76825. Bids can also be sent via e-mail to or by fax to (325) 792-9181.
