Joe Ray Hernandez, age 50, of Lubbock and formerly of Brady, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014in Lubbock, Texas. He was born May 4, 1964 in Brady to Manuel Rodriguez Hernandez and Mary Jesusa (Gomez) Hernandez. He was a self-employed landscaper and had lived in Lubbock for 33 years. He was a Baptist.

Funeral services for Joe Ray Hernandez will be held at 10:00am, Saturday July 12, 2014 at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady, Texas at with Pastor Joe Ledezma officiating. Interment will follow at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Brady. Joe Ray is survived by his parents, Manuel and Mary Hernandez of Brady; daughters Kristal Calamaco of Abilene, Latisha Humphrey and husband Kenneth of Abilene and Marisela Miller and husband Eric of Abilene; brothers Juan Hernandez of Brady, Bobby Hernandez and wife Josie of Brady, Sammy Hernandez and wife Elodia of Mason and Jesse Hernandez of Mason; sisters Maria V. Martinez of Brady and Margaret Bara and husband Patrick of Brady; grandchildren Monteciello Calamaco, Korina Hernandez, Kenora Humphrey, Amairyah Humphrey, Eric Miller III, Isiah Miller and Ken’nyzjah Humphrey. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother Frank Hernandez and nephew John Vara.
