Havana Schmidt graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and was commissioned into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant May 28th, 2014. She received a Bachelor of Science in Philosophy with Honors. Havana was recognized by the Department of English and Philosophy for Outstanding Achievement in Philosophy. Additionally, she was awarded the Gene L. Vidal Memorial Award. This award goes to one cadet each year from the graduating class for the Most Significant and Practical Suggestion for Future Benefit of the United States Military Academy. Havana was named the recipient of this award for her work as the first Brigade Representative for Cadets Against Sexual Harassment and Assault. The organization was formally instated at the beginning of her senior year, and its work received recognition from the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Secretary of the Army, and the Department of Defense.
After completing her Basic Officer Leader Course for the Adjutant General Corps at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Havana will be stationed at Schofield Barracks on Oahu, Hawaii working in personnel management and human resources for 3rd Brigade, 25th Infantry Division.
