Willow Creek

After reading the MC News August 6th article about Willow Creek Cafe, I wanted to expand its more recent history. James and Cindy Morris moved to Mason in 1995 and bought the Schmidt building from the Metzgers, who had operated a computer business there. The Morrises did renovations in January of 1996 and opened Willow Creek Cafe on Round Up weekend of that year to a brisk business. They operated it for the next three years until Angela Crouch leased it from them in February of 1999. Angela subsequently purchased the business from the Morrises in February, 2000, and has successfully operated it since. A bit of trivia: the large paintings of “Willow Creek” inside the restaurant were painted by late artist Mimi Litschauer on canvases donated by Cindy Morris and were included in the sale of the restaurant.

Kind regards,

Spider Johnson
