The Library Book Club has selected Greg Iles’s Natchez Burning as their September book. The novel is the first in a planned trilogy revolving around Southern lawyer Penn Cage. Cage was a former prosecutor, and he finds himself in the unusual position of defending his own father, who is a physician. His father is charged with the murder of a former nurse with whom he worked in the 1960s. Cage’s investigation leads him into a conspiracy involving the Double Eagles, a KKK group led by one of the most powerful men in the state of Mississippi. The club will meet at the Library on Tuesday, September 30, at 5:00 P.M. to discuss the book. Anyone who has read the book is welcome to attend.
