Mason Citizens Demand More!
Wednesday, September 3, 2014 • Posted September 4, 2014

As a long time visitor, I have always considered Mason to be the “gem” of the Hill Country. But lately, the luster is dimming. While in town for the Rodeo, I noticed the neighborhoods around the beautiful town square are overrun with feral cats and have houses whose yards are littered with discarded household items and junk cars and some are in disrepair.

The affordable housing community’s front porches are covered with old appliances and other household furniture. Why are your elected and paid city officials letting this happen? I am sure there are ordinances that address these issues.

I don’t think it is a funding problem as the county vehicles looked pretty new. If the town closes its eyes to these issues, Baby Boomers will look elsewhere to retire and the tax base will further erode. Everyone, regardless of age and their economic situations, needs to be a good citizen and take pride in Mason. Send emails, make phone calls or go to town meetings and demand your officials ensure Mason is the “gem” of the Hill Country for generations to come.
