On Tuesday, January 27th, the Riata Service Organization met at Miss Alma's B&B with Brenda Kothmann serving as hostess and Deann Gregg co-hostess.
Sheryl Burleson and Casey Callahan were introduced and welcomed. Sheryl, who is president of the Mason PTO, spoke of the need for a gym facility for the elementary school. Casey was representing Bluebonnet CASA, and told us of their upcoming fund raiser, "Hearts for Hope" dinner and dance on February 7th. Both groups would appreciate community support.
Our own Doris Grote, gave a very interesting and enjoyable program on Mason County Topaz. She told of her experiences hunting, finding, and how to identify topaz. She also brought a very interesting display of both cut and uncut stones.
After the program, refreshments were served and enjoyed. The business meeting followed. Riata continues to work on projects that will benefit our community.
