Barrel Race Planned for Martinez Family
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 • Posted February 17, 2009

We are planning a fundraiser for the Rudy Martinez family and would welcome help from anyone who would like to support Rudy’s children and family.

We’re planning a Barrel Race with a Silent Auction and Bake Sale on March 13, 2009. Our park arena is very busy this spring and this was about the only date we could get for awhile.  This is a Friday evening and the barrel race will start at 7:00.

Cindy Powell (cell 347-2596 and home 347-5070) and Merlina Gamel (cell 347-2141, home 258-4439, and email mgamel@hctc.net) are in charge of the Silent Auction.  If you would like to donate an item, please contact one of them.

Tj Schmidt (cell 347 -2611 and home 347-6011) is in charge of the Bake Sale.  Please contact her if you would like to donate an item or help her with the bake sale.

Morgan and I will be doing the barrel race.  Right now, we’re in need of donations for added money to bring more barrel racers to the event to compete, as well as to buy auction and bake sale items!!  We will run exhibitions ($5/run) from 2:30 to 6:30 and the 4D Jackpot ($30/run) will follow at 7:00. We will also have a Youth Incentive for $25. For more information, please call Morgan at 347-7408 and my cell is 347-2486.  Our home number is 347-9415. Pre-entries for exhibition runs and the barrel race will be taken by Amanda.

For you teachers who have students needing community service hours, we sure could use some help taking entries and setting barrels.  These students probably could help with the bake sale and auction also.

If you know of anything else we can do that evening to help this family, please let any of the ladies mentioned in this article know.  If you’d like to help in any way, please give one of us a call.
