Last weeks paper carried a letter about too many pets. How about one on too many deer? I live not far from the street that carries a lost of traffic, especially school children. Everyday about dusty dark the deer start coming in from the West. South there are 2 vacant lots, as it gets darker more deer stand waiting.
I get out my bucket and beat it and run them off- a little ways but they come right back. When I go into the house they gather in my back yard and the yard East of me.
I looked out last night at 9:45 and there were a few in my back yard. I hit my bucket and I dare say, there were 15 to 20 deer coming from next door at the back of the garage. Now I don't blame the deer; it's dry and they are hungry so they come running when someone shakes a bucket. It says to them supper is served. My back yard is like walking in a cow pen. The question is when will a group of school kids run into that herd of deer? Austin made it against the law to feed deer in town and Mason needs to do the same. All the deer in the world is not worth a wreck or maybe a death. It might by your son or daughter- Think about it!
