Dedicated to the many unanswered questions from too many forgotten Victims

A young man spoke to me today

Asking me why he had to die this way.

Lying on the ground covered in his own blood

A mother and fathers bundle of love.

The young man was dead when I arrived

But his voice from beyond beckoned “ Why Trooper Why?”

I searched for an answer one was not to be found,

What could I say to this boy on the ground?

“Why can’t I move?” “Why am I so cold?”

“Why can’t I live to be Eighteen years old?”

“I can’t die! Why are you letting my life end?”

“Trooper why are you here And where are my friends?”

“I just left the party and was headed to town.”

“Why Trooper why did my friends let me down?”

“My friends just told me I’d be the talk of the school”

“I drank to fit in and tried to be cool.”

“Why Trooper why are there tears in your eyes?”

“Why Trooper why did I have to die?”

I answered him softly while kneeling at his side

“What good are the answers when you’ve already died?”

“Why Trooper why did I drink and drive?”

“Why Trooper why did I have to die?????????????”
