The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, February 24th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 32, members and 1 visitor in attendance.
Lion Bruce Lehmburg, was responsible for the program and he spoke about some interesting facts about the 1500's that he had collected off the internet. These facts explained the origin of such savings as "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water", "Raining cats and dogs", also the reason a bride carries a bouquet of flowers, why a class of people are referred to as the "Upper Crust," and how "Saved by the Bell" and "Dead Ringer" came to be used in describing a person believed to be dead. Bruce also shared some interesting trivia about Texas.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 3rd, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Mark Lehmburg.
The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collected boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
