Mason Puncher Baseball

The Punchers started last week hot beating the Harper Longhorns 15-5 in 5 innings. The Punchers had a strong offensive showing with Jared Hudson and Matt Harper leading the way with one homerun each. The JV Punchers followed suit with a 16-0 victory over the JV Horns. Chance Stockbridge pitched a 1 hit shutout in the JV game overpowering the Longhorn hitters.

The Varsity Punchers travelled to Windthorst for the 3rd annual American Cancer Society Tournament Thursday-Saturday. The tournament has raised in excess of $16,000 in its 3 yrs of existence. The Punchers played well in the 15 team tournament placing 7th. Mason led off the tournament with an 8-1 victory over Nocona Thursday morning. The next game the Punchers lost to hosts Windthorst 12-0.

The following day the Punchers again hit the win column with a 9-3 victory over Lockney before falling in the second game to Peaster 6-3. After pool play Mason was 2-2 and the highest ranking 3rd place team in the 15 team tournament. On Saturday during the championship bracket play the Punchers lost to Olney 13-2. The Varsity record going into district play stands at 5-4-1 while the JV record stands at 2-0. The Punchers open up district play this week with Medina on Tuesday and Menard on Friday.
