Swimming Pool
Wednesday, March 18, 2009 • Posted March 18, 2009

Dear Gerry,

Congratulations to our forward thinking and courageous City Council for voting against the Mayor on the issue of providing a swimming pool for our community’s children. This is a bold and appreciated step in these economic times to spend our hard earned tax and utility dollars on a project that serves our children.

I would like to point out to our Mayor that it is NOT the purpose of our pool to “make money”. The purpose of our pool is to provide recreation for the children of this community. In many cases this is the only recreation available for our children. I dare say that for many adults in Mason our best summer memories revolve around that pool.

In fact I would suggest that the pool be opened free of charge. That not seeming to be a possibility, I would like to remind our kids that they can swim for free by reading in the library for one hour and obtaining a free pass to the pool for that day.

If you feel as I do, please let our Council folks know we appreciate their help.

Your very truly,

George Brannies
