Mason County Soil & Water Conservation District participates each year in the Texas Conservation Awards Program. The poster contest is open to students 12 years old and under. This year’s theme is “Dig It – The Secret of Soils.” All poster winners are fifth grade students: Christina Meija Morales, won first place for her poster; Sam Dyer won second place; and Heather Shaw won third place.

The Essay Contest is open to all students, 18 years of age and younger. This year’s theme was, “What Soil and Water Conservation Means to Me.” Essays were judged on creativity and content. Fourth grader, Jordan Ritter, won first place; sixth grader Jordan Donop, won second place; and James Schwertner, 4th grade, won third place.

Winners received DIG IT t-shirts and ribbons. All participants received Water is Life sponges. Congratulations to these creative Mason Elementary School students and a big THANK YOU from the Mason County SWCD Board of Directors to all students who submitted posters and essays!
