Weight loss is a popular topic in America. The nutritional supplement business is notorious for many weight loss products. The most popular products for weight loss today are acai berry combined with a colon cleanse.
Acai berry is a chocolaty-tasting berry from the Amazon that is loaded with antioxidants, omega 9 oils, and fiber. It is recommended by health gurus such as Dr. Perricone and Dr. Oz and has been featured by Oprah.
Below are more supplements that will help with weight loss.
Citrimax is the ephedra replacement. It is a citrus peel extract that has been shown to reduce appetite and inhibit fat production without stimulating the central nervous system. Studies using Citrimax show good results, but they are slow. It generally takes 2-3 weeks before results appear.
CLA or conjugated linoleic acid helps the body burn fat for energy rather than storing it. It has also been shown to increase lean muscle mass which speeds up metabolism. In safety trials, there have been no observed side effects.
Green tea is popular for weight loss since it increases the thermostat of the body while suppressing appetite. It contains natural antioxidants plus theanine which helps promote calmness.
L-Carnitine is an amino acid that helps your cells burn fat while increasing energy and stamina, improving heart and liver health and improving tone and function of your muscles. It is one of my favorite supplements for weight loss.
Yerba mate is another tea that is popular for weight loss. It acts somewhat like green tea in increasing the thermostat of the body while suppressing appetite. It really works – and is a great energy booster.
Rhodiola is an herb that mobilizes the body’s fat stores and helps to convert them to energy. Rhodiola is actually known for increasing the body’s ability to deal with stress. Studies using the same exercise and diet regimen indicate that those taking rhodiola lost twice as much weight as the control group. Rhodiola works best when used with a consistent exercise program of at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise 4 times per week.
5-HTP is a metabolite of the amino acid tryptophan. 5-HTP increases serotonin levels which means that it functions as a mild appetite suppressant while helping you feel good during the day and sleep well at night. Because 5-HTP acts like an antidepressant, it is not recommended for those on prescription antidepressants.
Don’t forget that sensible diet and exercise always work for weight loss unless there is a metabolic problem such as low thyroid function, estrogen dominance, or fatty liver. These generally occur together and can be remedied by following a diet such as the Fat Flush Plan and using natural hormones.
Also, always, always, always observe the contraindications mentioned on the label of a product – I don’t care how fine the print is or what the product is for.
