Thursday, March 26, 2009 • Posted March 26, 2009

The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, March 24, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 38 members and 2 visitors in attendance.

Lion Lee Graham was responsible for the program and introduced Dawn Hahn who coaches the U.I.L. Academics Contests. Brittney Estes read a prose piece, then Madison Burney read a poetry piece and then Amanda Henrich read a poetry piece. These young ladies all did an excellent job and they should do well in their contest this weekend at Center Point. We wish them well. High School Principal Casey Callahan accompanied the ladies to Lions Club. The Mop and Broom Sale is planned for June 3rd.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 31st, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Lee McMillan and the program will be on the Hill Country Telephone Coop.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
