The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, March 31st, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 38 members and 4 visitors in attendance.
Lion Lee McMillan was responsible for the program and introduced Delbert Wilson, General Manager for H.C.T.C. who spoke about the Hill Country Telephone Coop and all they are doing in up-grading the system. Mr. Wilson said they are spending approx. 57 million dollars to trying new up-to-date equipment and services for their customers. The H.C.T.C. covers 3,500 sq. miles and services 17,000 lives. A few of their new services are D.S.L., Broadband and V.O.T.T.
Mr. Wilson was accompanied by two of his associates and Charles Loeffler, the H.C.T.C. director for the Mason Area.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, April 7th, at noon at Zavala's. The program will be the monthly business meeting.
The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
