New Hours for Community Foundation Thrift Store
Wednesday, April 8, 2009 • Posted April 8, 2009

The Mason Community Foundation is pleased to announce the Community Thrift Store will now be open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturdays, effective immediately!

When the Foundation was first formed in January 2007, the members immediately realized the need for the store to be available on Saturdays, knowing that many residents were not able to shop during the weekday-only hours. A ‘trial’ basis was introduced, to see if shoppers would support the business and if volunteers from the community would equally support by serving for 4 hours each week behind the cash register. Two years and two weeks later, the business has proven so successful, with locals and as a destination for visitors, that offering more hours is warranted.

With the hiring of a Saturday employee, the volunteers will be able to take a well deserved ‘breather’. For the many who found it to be such a rewarding experience, you are encouraged to volunteer during the week by calling Judy or Aimee at the Store at 347-6551. Your continued assistance will be most welcome! The Board would also like to acknowledge the wonderful work of the Volunteer Coordinators, Irene Martinez, Debbie Schovajsa and D’Ann Stahl, in doing such a great job!

And to each and every person who has served behind the counter on have the tremendous gratitude of the members of the Foundation as well as the community which it serves. With all profits remaining in Mason, through civic projects benefiting all, it truly has been a ‘win-win’. Without you, it would never have been possible!
