Illustrating Child Abuse in Mason County
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 • Posted April 15, 2009

Did you know that there were 16 confirmed cases of child abuse or neglect in Mason County last year? The Members of the Mason County Child Welfare Board are seeking to raise awareness of this issue. The members of the board set up a clothesline on the square where 16 little onesies are clothes pinned, representing the 16 children who were served by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Last Sunday’s hamburger luncheon on the square was a huge success in spite of the cold, windy weather. There wasn’t a single hamburger left by the time the event was over! The children enjoyed the Easter egg hunt and the exciting visit by the Easter bunny! The members of the Mason County Child Welfare Board wish to thank everyone who helped with the event and the community members as well as the people traveling through town who stopped to pick up a burger!
