John Schafft, Candidate for City Commission, District 1
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 • Posted April 15, 2009

I am pleased to announce as a candidate for City Commissioner, District 1, in the upcoming city elections.

During the past several years, I have seen the growth of Mason and where it is going. To touch on just a couple of concerns, adequate supplies of affordable water and electricity are essential for the continued growth, prosperity and quality of life that we all enjoy. The city infrastructure needs to be maintained and improved with integrity, including streets, drainage and water line improvements.

I believe I can be a valuable asset to the community. I have lived in Mason for the last nine years coming here from Fredericksburg. There I owned and operated Schafft Air Duct and Carpet Cleaning before I retired for health reasons. I am currently a certified Texas animal control officer, with a special interest in animal cruelty investigations. As a retiree, I have the time to research other programs that can better enhance the City of Mason and its residents. During the last 6 years, as a concerned citizen, I have attended most of the City Commission meetings, which I feel, if elected, will give me a better chance to fill the position already up to speed and not have to play catch up.

If you have questions for me or wish to discuss any concerns, please give me a call at 347-4136 or email me at johnschafft@verizon.net.
