AUSTIN (April 13) – Representative Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) will be awarding two $500 scholarships to District 53 students graduating from an accredited high school in May or June 2009.

Students can apply by obtaining an application form from their high school senior counselor, who will forward all entries to Hilderbran’s office for judging. Students must live and attend school within District 53 in order to qualify.

In addition to the form, students should submit a reply to the following statement: “Voter ID is a major issue facing the 81st Legislature this session. Survey the opinions of five or six people in your community and, in 250 words or less, present your results and analyze the implications of your findings.”

Hilderbran will be presenting the winners with their scholarship at their respective award banquets.

For more information, please contact Representative Hilderbran at 512.463.0536.
