Marking Henry Leifeste’s Grave as a Citizen of the Republic of Texas
Wednesday, April 15, 2009 • Posted April 15, 2009

Thanks to permission from the First Methodist Church, the grave of Henry Leifeste will be marked to honor him as a Citizen of the Republic of Texas. Connie Stockbridge was instrumental in helping me with the paperwork from the Church.

On Wed, Apr 15th at 1:30 myself and my cousin, Helen Kroh, (daughter of Rachel Leifeste Kroh, my mother’s, Helen Leifeste Olsen, sister) will have a short Daughters of the Republic of Texas Ceremony marking the grave and honoring him as a Citizen of the Republic of Texas.

Both my mother, Helen Olsen, Helen Kroh and myself are members of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas because of his arrival in Texas in January 1846. I accumulated the documentation including a copy of the ship’s manifest when he arrived in Galveston to allow us to become members through his lineage.
