Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s merely smoke, the smoke put forth by hundreds of roasting chickens.
Some “holy smoke” will be pouring from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Sunday, April 26th. Well, not exactly from the church, but from the church’s new pit barbeque pits, which will be feeding the multitudes from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. (or when sold out). While not performing the miracle of the loaves and fishes, the dedicated faithful will be serving up a half chicken, pinto beans, potato salad or mac and cheese, pickles, onions, bread, ice tea or water, and a homemade dessert, all for a minimum donation of $8.00.
Advance tickets are available at The Little Red Shack and First State Bank, and remember, each ticket enters you in a raffle with a $300 cash door prize. Come early and stay late - there are silent auctions, raffle items, a dessert auction, bake sale, and roast chicken sale. Our parish hall will accommodate one and all. Eat in or take out, any day I can buy a delicious meal for $8.00, and possibly win $300 more, I consider that to be a miracle indeed!
