The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, April 21, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 22 members and 1 visitor in attendance.
Lion John Gammill was responsible for the program and introduced Bonnie Beam and Connie Witt who spoke about the Mason County Cancer Benefit. This benefit raises money to help Mason County Residents who have cancer and need assistance with gas and lodging for trips to other towns for treatments. The ladies explained how the committees are set-up that govern this organization and how the monies are raised and distributed. This was a very informative program. The benefit is held the last Saturday in April and this year that is April 25th from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, April 28th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Charles Pluenneke.
The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
