Mason ISD Receives TEA Grants
Wednesday, April 29, 2009 • Posted April 29, 2009

Mason I.S.D. has been selected to receive two TEA grants. The Investment Capital Fund is a $50,000 one-year grant that will assist Mason Elementary School in implementing practices and procedures to improve student achievement and help schools identify and train parents and community leaders to understand academic standards. Program goals include training school staff, parents, and community leaders to understand academic standards; developing and implementing effective strategies to improve student performance; organizing a large constituency of parents and community leaders that will hold the school and school district accountable for achieving high academic standards; and engaging in ongoing planning to help ensure the success of the grant program.

Mason Elementary School will also receive $99,900 over a three-year period to enhance its prekindergarten program by providing high quality, research-based early childhood services for eligible prekindergarten children throughout the district with the Prekindergarten Early Start Grant. This project will increase capacity by adding an additional prekindergarten class. Mason ISD partnered with two other school districts, Birdville I.S.D. and Grape Creek I.S.D., to receive the Prekindergarten Early Start grant award.
