Rochelle Project Graduation Fundraiser Includes Country Stars
Wednesday, May 6, 2009 • Posted May 6, 2009

Beginning with this school year Rochelle ISD will begin hosting our their own Project Graduation. In the past Rochelle has participated with Brady and Lohn for a county wide Project Graduation at Curtis Field. This year Rochelle Project Graduation will take place in the old gym from 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. after graduation on May 29th. Project Graduation is a safe, non-alcohol/drug celebration which was begun as an alternative to the extremely dangerous “senior parties” of by-gone days. The event is by invitation only and will include games, food court and a movie theater. Rochelle seniors will have the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes but the best prize of all for the attendees will be a laptop computer for every senior at 4:30 a.m. These will be wonderful prizes for these folks headed off to college, etc. This year’s theme is “Hollywood”.

The seniors have had several successful fund raisers this year but by far the biggest is coming up on May 8th. In fact, this could easily be the largest event in the small town of Rochelle’s history. On Friday May 8th the senior class benefiting Project Graduation will sponsor an “All You Can Eat Fish Fry and Concert” featuring Darrell and Mona McCall, Tony Booth, Justin Trevino and Rochelle’s own Frank Torres.

The meal includes all you can eat catfish, fries, hush puppies, slaw, tea and dessert and will begin at 6:00 with the concert to begin soon after. The event will take place on the Rochelle Football Field and advance tickets are $18.00. They can be purchased at the school or from a Rochelle Senior. Tickets at the gate will be available for $20.00. The reserved tables advertised earlier are sold out. Bring your lawn chairs but no coolers please. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages served or allowed on school property.

The other Project Graduation fund raiser is a 7 day Caribbean cruise in which the Hillbilly Hits country music entertainers will be featured. The cruise leaves Galveston on October 18th and will return on the 25th. Call the school (325-243-5224) for more information or raffle tickets. The tickets are 1 for $5.00 or 6 for $25.00. Someone may be a part of Tracy Pitcox’s Country Cruise for $5.00!

Special thank you to Tracy Pitcox and the Heart of Texas Country Music Museum for his generosity both for the cruise and in helping us get this concert together and publicized. Also, a huge thanks to Darrell, Mona, Justin, Tony and Frank! Because of their generosity the concert is already paid for and our seniors will have a successful, wonderful Project Graduation!
