Wednesday, May 13, 2009 • Posted May 13, 2009

Important Update as of May 15th!!! Change of venue!

Mason County Habitat for Humanity will heed the threat of rain and is MOVING the Spring Benefit Fundraiser to the Community Building at Mason's City Park!

Each aspect of the event that guests are normally accustomed to will carry over to the indoor environment very well...it just will be under roof, instead of the open skies of our central Texas Hill Country!

Again, the event will be held this Saturday at the Community Building from 6pm-9pm.

A festive evening is being planned for Mason County Habitat for Humanity’s 2009 Spring Benefit to be held on Saturday, May 16th from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. In it’s seventh year, the annual fundraiser is again showing its popularity with the local community as available tickets are becoming difficult to find!

This year’s event will be hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Logan Stevens, at their ranch on the San Saba River. The shady grounds and open vistas promise plentiful breezes for guests as the extensive porches provide a perfect setting for the entertainment and serving areas.

The event will again feature a live and silent auction to include fabulous items for collectors of art and fine crafts, events for sporting enthusiasts and weekend get-aways. With the list continuing to grow, items already contributed include an exquisite 9’x12' handmade oriental rug, a 3.06 carat Mason County topaz necklace by Gems of the Hill Country, a professionally framed Bill Worrell watercolor, a collectible from Rebecca Tobey, handmade jewelry & pottery from area craftspersons and wood marquetry from Spider Johnson! For the hunting and sports enthusiasts, a guided Quail Hunt, a ticket package for 4 to see the champion San Antonio Spurs in live action, a guided fishing trip and several challenging rounds of golf at exclusive facilities. Along the line of home decor and entertaining, there will be a variety of framed original oils and watercolors, a professional photography sitting (for persons or pets!) a gorgeous oversized Spring Wreath, an elaborate candelabra with beeswax candles, whimsical wine stoppers, luxury hotel and B-n-B accomodations and fabulous gourmet dining events for 8, where everyone vies to be the highest bidder’s ‘Very Best Friend’!

The live entertainment for the evening will once again be JAZZ CONCHO, a quintet of musicians from San Angelo. The group is comprised of five professionals and educators who share a common dream of creating classic jazz at a quality level. In the past, the Spring Benefit guests have found the live jazz to be excellent entertainment as they visit with friends and enjoy a delicious buffet of food and drink.

The many contributors to this fundraiser, from the hosts, sponsors and guests, to the artists and the many, many volunteers involved in the planning of this great event, all join in the goal of the local affiliate in their Christian ministry of providing decent, affordable housing to qualifying partner families in need. They recognize their efforts to be a ‘hand up, not a hand out’ to those who strive to realize the dream of homeownership. And each partnership, in turn, benefits the community as a whole.

The Spring Benefit will be held even if raining, with the location moving to the Community Building at Fort Mason City Park. For more information, please contact the local office at 347-9591 and become a part of ‘changing lives...one house at a time’!
