William Vaughn Armes

William Vaughn Armes of Fredonia/Denton, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009, in Denton, Texas at the age of 64.

William Vaughn was born September 24, 1944, to Roy Armes and Fannie Taylor Armes in Corpus Christi, Texas. He married Janie Thomas on October 16, 1999. He was raised in Fredonia and graduated from Mason High School in 1962. He enlisted in the Army and was a paratrooper during his enlistment. He worked for Buttery’s Hardware in Llano, Texas, for several years, then he drove a truck all over the U.S. for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Armes and his brother, Billy Armes.

Survivors include: wife, Janie Armes of Denton; mother, Fannie P. Armes of Fredonia, Texas; step-daughters, Janice Krause of Sioux Falls, SD; Billie Jo Gilliland and husband Dale of Tyler, Texas; step-sons Duane Rutledge and wife Terri of North Richland Hills, Texas and Eddie Renegar of Lawton, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Edith Armes, a nephew, Jim Bob Armes and wife Jenney, all of Fredonia, Texas; a nephew, Clay Armes and wife Marie of Junction, Texas; a niece, Allison Hicks and husband Steve of Thackerville, Oklahoma; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a great-niece and a great-nephew.

Funeral services for William Vaughn Armes will be held graveside at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Union Band Cemetery in Pontotoc. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, May 16, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home in Mason, Texas.
