The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, May 12th, for its regular weekly meeting. There were 35 members and 1 visitor in attendance.

Lion John Copeland was responsible for the program and introduced Nancy Holt, Exec. Director of CASA, who spoke about Bluebonnet C.A.S.A.. C.A.S.A. stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. A CASA Volunteer is appointed by a Judge to see that the needs of a child abuse or neglect victim are addressed at a court hearing.

CASA is a non-profit and relays on volunteers to help these children. Bluebonnet CASA serves 4 Counties of approx. 18,779 people. They have helped 72 children with a 91% permanent placement. At present 10 volunteers are working 19 cases, they need help bad!! If you think you would like to help call Nancy Holt at 347-6474.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, May 19th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Wibby Shearer.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
