Jerry Dale Thomas of Brady and San Saba, was killed in an automobile accident on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the age of 63. Also killed in the accident was his beloved dog, Missy.

Jerry Thomas was born June 11, 1945, in Mason County to Carlos and Anna Bess Thomas. He grew up on the family ranch in the Fredonia area and graduated from Mason High School with the class of 1962. He owned and operated Thomas Water Well Service in Brady since 2001.

On September 23, 2003, he married Adonna Brumley Thomas. He was a rancher his entire life and he loved being at the ranch and taking care of things there.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Adonna Thomas of San Saba, and his children: Micheal Thomas and wife Jennifer of Brady; Ricky Thomas and wife Trish of Eden; Melissa Estrada and husband Jesse of Brady; Dana Thomas of Brady and Tammy West of Brady. He is also survived by his brother, Melvin Thomas and wife Charlene of Ft Stockton; his brother-in-law, Chuck Bednarik of Davidsonville, Maryland and step-daughter Julie Anne Freiman and husband Keith of Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Anna Bess Thomas and his sister, Betty June Benarik.

Funeral services for Mr. Thomas were held on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home chapel with interment following at Wagram Cemetery in Fredonia. Visitation with the family was Saturday, May 23, 2009, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home.

Ricky Thomas, Fred Bednarik, Ashton Thomas, Cassidy Thomas, Brandon Thomas and Russell Weyand served as pallbearers with Micheal Thomas, Johnny Jones and Zachary Estrada serving as honorary pallbearers.
