Patricia Chapman Zella, 63, answered the call from her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 18, 2009.
She was born March 22, 1946, in Menard, Texas, to Blanton and Oleta Low Chapman. She graduated from Menard High School in 1964 and graduated from Nixon-Clay Business School in 1966. Patricia married Robert Lee Zella on March 8, 1967, in Gonzales. She had worked for the Texas Highway Department in Austin before moving to Gonzales and going to work for the office of Dr. James C. Price, M.D. She went back to work for the business office of the Texas Highway Department in Gonzales where she worked for nearly 26 years before retiring. She was a member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church.
Pat enjoyed art; she found peace in drawing and sketching scenes. She loved to read; she avidly studied her Bible and shared scriptures with family and friends. Pat was proficient at writing prose and short stories; she thoroughly loved telling stories to her granddaughters as she shared precious time playing with them. Pat was a loving and doting wife; mother and grandmother, having her family together during holidays made them all the more special for her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 47 years, Robert L. Zella, sons, Brad Lynn Zella and his wife Stacy, Jimmy Wayne Zella and his fiancé Kristal, granddaughters, Megan and Kate Zella all of Gonzales, mother, Oleta Chapman of Mason, brothers, Bill Chapman and his wife Brenda of Mason, Gary Chapman and his wife Brenda of Ingram and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday May 21, 2009, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Rev. Lynn Wilson officiating. Interment followed in Gonzales Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Emmitt Currie, Donnie Petru, Jesse Almaraz, Leonard Mikesh, Steve Werner, and James Caddell. Honorary Pallbearers were: former colleagues of the Texas Highway Department.
