Bits of Art

It's great sleeping on these cool nights with a little cover and a warm dog. The afternoons are fine too and the scattered showers have been great. But we can use a good rain. Keep praying.

William and Lisa Howard, she's my daughter, were married in the Art UMC 15 years ago on the 28th of May. We will be celebrating their anniversary in San Antonio with all of the family.

The Bridal Shower for Emily Jordan on Saturday was a great event. Jan Jordan's sister, Betty Wobig, was here, Gail Sholar came from Joaquin and Carlita Jordan was able to come and enjoy the day. Emily and Chris will be married on June 13th in the Art church.

Special healing prayers were requested for Carolyn Vater's sister-in-law Kathy who is having breathing problems, for Alyssa Bertrany as she heals at home from successful back surgery and for Carol who has colon cancer. Also, pray for safe travel for Josh and Lorien Calhoun and their three children as they travel from California for a visit with Kathy and Wayne. And continue to pray for Carlita Jordan, Pearl Leifeste, Andrew Kothmann, Etta Marie Mutschink and for Florence Blake who was a surprise attendee in church after Lisa went to pick her up Sunday morning.

Kelly Kothmann will be confirmed as a member of the United Methodist Church on Sunday morning, May 31st, at 9:45 a.m. at the First UMC in Mason.

The 5th Sunday Service has been moved to the 7th of June at the Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m.

We were pleased to welcome Emith and Willie Mae Bauer as new members of our congregation. They have been faithful visitors for some time and we really appreciate their love and friendship. It is great to have you be a part of the Art church.

Rev. Krause named Sunday as Pick the Hymn Sunday. The congregation picked the hymns, and the scriptures and short sermons were included by the pastor. The eight hymns we selected were: America the Beautiful, Great is Thy Faithfulness, Because He Lives, Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus, Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling, Here Am I Lord, America and God Be With You Till We Meet Again. A great selection.

The first scripture was the 23rd Psalm. We were reminded that God is always with us and watches over us and guides our lives. The pathway to salvation was created by God. We are His creation and He loves us dearly. Thank God for the troubling and difficult times in our lives as they help us to grow as Christians and strengthen our faith as we overcome them with God's help. In times of troubles, we go to the Rock, Jesus Christ. He will understand your anxieties and guide you to the words of scripture that will help when you are under pressure. It will help you be close to God. The Holy Spirit will give you the strength to go on.

Thank God that we live in a great country that was started by Christians. The second scripture was from Psalm 63: 1-5. The Psalmist while in the Wilderness of Judah wrote: O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirst for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory. Because your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. So I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. My whole being shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

The love, wisdom and grace of God changes lives for ever. May His loving Spirit be in us and with us always.
