This weekend you’d find me in Kyle, Texas. Yep, I’m running herd on my grandsons, while their Momma and Papa are out of town. It’s like 25 years ago, with my three boys. I’m not that young anymore, however, it’s nice to go back and pretend.
Cooper, the eight year old, asked if I could throw a football. I told him that I’m not physically or mentally able to throw anything anymore, not even a hissy fit!
Seems the economy is really bad this way. Poor souls have clothing that doesn’t fit. Jeans that are too big and tend to be too long. Shirts that show the belly buttons and half of shoes! They can’t afford hair cuts nor perms, as men, boys, women and girls all have long straight hair. By the looks of some, shampoo isn’t in their budgets either. They don’t mind the sun in their eyes, but don’t want sun on the back of their necks, because they all wear their caps backwards!
But, they do have cars and pickups. They drive like wild hogs, too! I’m not one for the Interstate Highways. I prefer the access roads. Might take me a bit longer to get there, but I feel safer on them. These folks are under a whole lot of stress, not only do they push hard on the gas pedal, they like to honk their horns, too! I got several honks, but that was because they liked my Rebel stickers in the back window.
They don’t open up their shops till ten in the morning, so I found a coffee place and waited an hour. You’d think by the way they dress and keep themselves presentable; they’d want to open up earlier? I don’t do malls anymore. Now, they have shops where you can drive up to them and then put your bags in the trunk and drive a bit down the way and go into another shop. So, I did the shopping bit, while the kids were in school Friday. They don’t think shopping with MeMaw is all that much fun.
Z was left to care for the dogs and puppies. I told him to be good. He told me, “At my age, it’s not an option anymore!”
P.S. Hope when I get back on Tuesday, I’ll find where we have had a nice rain! Never give up hope; it’s the thing to never give up. Need to tell some of these folks here, that they need to hope for better fitting clothing and a barber shop!
