Pray for rain. I think it could rain every day and we would still want more. It would be different to say: “No more rain.” Keep praying.

Carlita Jordan will celebrate her birthday on June 17th. June is the month for weddings and Steve and Karen Toone celebrate on June 12th, Scott and Kacie Ceynowa observe their second anniversary on June 17th and Trey and Natalie Hudson’s anniversary is June 18th. And remember the wedding of Chris Rhodes and Emily Jordan on this Saturday, June 13th. Make your day really special.

Keep Vondell Jordan’s son, Brandon Fuqua, in your prayers. He was hit by a cow as she slung her head while in the chute. He was unconscious for a while and has some broken bones around his eye. He is expected to make a full recovery. Also, keep Carolyn Vater’s niece in your prayers as she recovers from eye surgery. It was really great to see Anna Grace Durst in church and looking good. Continue your prayers for Florence Blake, Etta Marie Mutschink, Tina Carter and Monica Cotter.

Prayers for our nation’s leaders were also expressed. May God guide them in the important discussions they are making that will affect us for many years. Our spending is out of control and it will affect us all.

And it was great to have both Clara McInnis and Nea Young back in Mason after their traveling to visit relatives.

It was good to have Maria Mutis provide violin music for the service.

Remember the Kothmann Family Reunion this Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. the Mason School Cafeteria. Family group pictures will be taken.

Planning for Vacation Bible School has started. The Art church provides all of the food and refreshments for over 100 kids and 25 workers. Tyra Jordan is buying now and needs contributions. See her at church and give to help her do her usual great job. Help is needed.

The 1st Sunday Sing at the First Baptist Church was a beautiful tribute to our nation. Patriotic songs were included and the Baptist Church presented their great program: “From Sea to Shining Sea.” And the cookies and punch were extremely great also.

We will have our annual church picnic in the park this Sunday after the service. This is our special celebration with Andy before he leaves. Bring your sandwiches, chips and goodies for your family in a basket. Dessert and water and lemonade will be provided. Come and relax after the busy week with the wedding and the reunion.

E. Wayne Jordan returned from the Church Conference to assure us that Mark Krause will be returning for another year. Pastor Mark is taking a short vacation and will be back this week.

Stephen Mutschink read the Gospel scripture from John 3:1-17. His sermon was titled “Are We There Yet?” He quoted from a sign he had seen in Llano that read: “Faith is not a destination, it is a journey”. He began with some definitions: destination – a place where you are going or need to be, journey – a trip from one place to another place, and faith – the belief in something you cannot see.

We learn about faith by taking a journey. Is a journey for faith ever over? Are we there yet? The life of a Christian is a journey of learning about Christ, but it is never over. We have been on a faith journey since we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. If you put your faith in other things – money, goods, power, cars – you will never find true faith. Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Faith is staying on the path as we go through the rough places and trials of life.

What spiritual landmarks are pointing the way as we go on our journey of faith. We are told that we must be born again by water and the spirit, born again from above. There is joy in the Holy Spirit when we are baptized. When Jesus talks about the wind, as it blows we do not know where it comes from or where it goes. It is the breath of God, the spirit of God. And God will never leave us alone; he has left us the Holy Spirit to be with us always. Everyone who is born of the Spirit, is a child of God.

Faith is the foundation of the new birth. Enjoy the peace of God that passes all understanding. Love God as He loves you. Be true sons of God; share the glory of heaven. Listen to the wind and the sound of it; the spirit will lead us into God’s presence. When we get there, we will definitely know that we are in the presence of God. Are we there yet?
