You’ll most likely find this a very unusually article. I’m leaving for a vacation that has been in the works since January of this year. I’m taking my daughters in law, Shannon and Lacey with me to Hawaii! We’ve been looking forward to this trip for a long time. Z and my sons will have to wing it without us girls. It’s just a girl thing.
The boys will be busy with running herd on their kids and Z will be in full charge of the dogs. I’m hopping that Z will do a good job.
My sister GG has gone on her well deserved vacation for the rest of her life. No more house work, making ends meet, or cooking. No, Sir, she’s gone to Glory Land! You see, GG, also known to others as Jenn Doell Jordan, passed away on Saturday May 30th, 2009, at the age of 75 years and 2 months young! She left behind two precious daughters Dena and Janet, three good-looking grandkids, Jamie, Christopher and Michelle. And of course us sisters, Jo Ann and Jane!
She had a massive stroke and was blessed with not having to linger and/or be a vegetable in a nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband Waddy Jordan, parents Sam and Willie Mae Brandenberger, a nephew Bert. Which no doubt she is filling them in on the entire goings ons of the ones she left behind.
GG and I talked about funerals and we both agreed that they were not all that necessary and that we had planned on cremations. We didn’t want folks to have to get all dressed up and have to stand out in the cold, hot, wind or rain. We just wanted folks to remember us when they last saw us. Talk and remember the good and oh so funny stuff. If we didn’t get flowers when we were alive, not to get them when we’re dead. If you must do something, do something for someone else and tell yourself, “This is for you!” No need to tell the right hand what the left hand is a doing!
So, here’s to GG: I had more fun with you in five days than most sisters have in a lifetime, when we last were together. My vacation to Hawaii is no where near the one you’re on. Love you GG.
P.S. Sisters are the gifts of two loving parents, natural born or adopted. Love your sister now. If you don’t have a sister, I’m available!
