Thank God for the rain we got on Friday night. Along with the rain we also got a tornado warning, some unwanted hail and high wind. When we came home after the show, there was a little rain in town. We began to see more rain, much wind, and some hail. We dodged some branches and saw some cars at the roadside park, went around a tree in the road and realized that no lights were on anywhere. At Art, cars were parked on both sides of the road with some windows broken out. Later, we learned that the hail had lasted for almost 45 minutes, blowing horizontally with the strong wind, and the damage extended at least from just east of Art to the Airport and both north and south of Hwy 29.

Most windows on the north side of houses were broken, the shutters on the north side of the church were all broken and one window was cracked, and the siding on the front of the Fellowship Hall was destroyed. Windows can be replaced and damage repaired. Everyone survived and we did need the rain. Thank God for His continuing love and protection.

Happy anniversary to Randy and Kim Hinckley on June 19th, to Sam and Wendy Jordan on their 2nd anniversary on June 23rd, and to Keven and Tennile Kothmann on June 25th. Have a great special celebration on your anniversary.

Continue to pray for healing for Tina Carter as she has surgery this week. Pray that God will guide the hands of her surgeons. Continue your prayers for Monica Cotter, Anna Grace Durst and pray for Paul Stockbridge. Also pray for Jean Lyon’s brother-in-law Don Williams.

Remember that the Art church is packing boxes at the Food Bank today from 10:00 a.m. to noon. They will be delivered on July 6th.

Tyra Jordan is spending a lot of her own money to buy food to feed the children and adults at Vacation Bible School. Be generous in giving and help make this a great event. The school is from July 6-10.

Marge and Don Boyd are busy putting all church members’ information in the computer getting ready to publish the new church directory. Ron Fritze will be taking pictures after church. Be sure you are included in the directory.

We all enjoyed our “church picnic” in the Fellowship Hall rather than in the park because of the slight damage to some trees and heat. A great time was had by everyone as we shared our bounty. We also recognized Andy as this was his last Sunday before he returns to South Korea. We really did enjoy getting to know Andy and wish him success, happiness and safety as he travels home.

Rev. Krause read the Gospel scripture from Matthew 7:7-12 and preached using the sermon title “Faith, Focus and Follow Through”.

Life is full of difficult challenges. Knowing God and having faith in Him, trusting in Him, will help you to focus on your faith and follow through by learning how to deal with struggles and strengthening your faith by overcoming them.

God pursues us in our busy lives and speaks to us in our prayers, in the beauty of His creation, in the inspiration of His Word, in singing the great hymns and in worship. When we open up to Him and let the Holy Spirit come into our lives, we can feel God’s power and love.

But, how do we pursue God? Look to the Lord and seek His face continually every second of the day. Believe in God. Faith is a choice to believe in something we cannot see. When we ask God for something, our faith helps us know that He is listening and will respond when we pray that His will be done, not our will. Seek God with all of your heart and soul. He will listen when you seek Him with all of your heart. All prayers should be asking for God’s will to be done in your request. Don’t focus on “I” or “Me” but focus on God’s will in all situations. God will reward you for your faith.

Ask that God’s will be done in your dealings with other people. God will not give up on us. Continue to grow in faith by praying. God knows what we need and he is listening. Follow through by continuing to pray.

Keep your faith, focus on God always, and your faith will grow. Do your best to listen for the things he wants you to do. God will help you to do better each day. God is the giver; we are the receivers. He sends the Holy Spirit to be with everyone. Don’t worry about tomorrow.

May your faith, focus and follow through work to build God’s Kingdom.
