The second of six children, Billie Maxine Frenzel came into this world on Thursday, April 11, 1918, born to Flora and Pascal Waddill, Rochelle, Texas, and departed this life for her heavenly home on Monday, June 15, 2009. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2009, at First Christian Church with Dennis Glasgow and David Cozart, officiating. Interment followed in Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Billie graduated from Rochelle High School and then from cosmetology school in Austin, Texas. She married Fred Ray Frenzel on June 29, 1940. They were parents to two daughters, Joan and Janice.
Billie was deeply devoted to God, her family, her friends, and to her profession. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church beginning in 1955 when the family moved to Hobbs from Mason, Texas. Dedicated to her profession of hairdressing, she continued to pursue continuing education as long as she worked, until her 80th birthday. She was a member of the local and National Hairdressers Association and was one of those who happily worked each year to give a full day’s earnings to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch. Billie was a member of the National Business Women’s Association and was named Woman of the Year in that organization; she also took pleasure in serving with the Pink Ladies at Lea Regional Hospital. An avid gardener, she grew beautiful roses and shared her many pecans with friends and family.
Preceding her in death were loved ones: husband Fred; parents Flora and Pascal Waddill; sisters, Lillie Mae Matthews, Jo Ella Young; sister-in-law, Lucille Haley; and, brother, John Pascal Waddill.
Surviving family members are: daughter Joan Tucker and husband Dr. Burrell Tucker of Hobbs; daughter Janice Rowland and husband Thomas Rowland of Las Vegas, Nevada. She is also survived by beloved grandchildren: Matthew Tucker of Albuquerque; Jenny Scott and husband Greg of Hobbs; Bryce Collette and husband Donnie of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jason Rowland and wife Jennifer of Las Vegas; adored great-grandchildren: Tucker, Jackson and Garrison Scott of Hobbs; Brooke and Lauren Collette of Las Vegas; and, McKenna and Marli Rowland of Las Vegas. She is also survived by cherished sisters Nell Spence and Roxie Wiley, numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and by loving caregiver and friend, Glida Arch. The family expresses deep gratitude to the people of VistaCare Hospice and Desert Gardens.
