The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, June 16th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 31 members and 3 visitors in attendance.

Lion Glenn Ruthven was responsible for the program and introduced Don Durflinger and Ashley Clements who spoke about the Mason Co. Apple Fest. This function will be held on September 5, 2009 and will benefit the Mason School. Mr. Durflinger gave a slide presentation showing all the activities planned for the fest, along with the different types of volunteer workers that are needed to make the Apple Fest a success. If you would be interested in volunteering or helping by being a sponsor at the different levels or if you would like more information, you can e-mail: www.masoncountyapplefest@live.com.

The club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 23rd, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Curtis Schulze.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
