Jamie Hemphill’s Son to Sign Book about Heaven
Wednesday, July 8, 2009 • Posted July 8, 2009

LONGVIEW, TX – Steve Hemphill, son of former Mason Mayor Jamie Hemphill, will be at the Mason Puncher football stadium on Saturday, July 11 beginning at 2:30 pm for a pre-release event for his new book, My Search for the Real Heaven.

Compelled by the untimely death of Mayor Hemphill in August of 2000, Steve began an intense study of his father’s new home. He hunted through his Bible cover to cover, marking every single verse about heaven, and he compared these verses to see what would emerge. A picture of this Bible with tabs marking every verse is the focal point of the book’s cover.

“I was surprised by what I found,” Steve said. “Not only does the Bible have more to say about heaven than I thought, it’s much more clear than I thought. God really does want us to know about heaven.”

Learning about heaven was one kind of adventure. Turning it into a book was an entirely different kind. “I call myself somewhat of a reluctant author,” said Steve, “because I sort of acted like Jonah, running away from the project for years because of the pain of the memories of Dad.”

Steve will give a short testimony of all the doors he saw God open, including how smoothly it was published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises. He will sign copies of the book afterward.

Since the book will not be released until August 11, this event at Mason will be the only place My Search for the Real Heaven will be available until the release. The book is also available online from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, and on Steve’s prayer web site at www.prayerthoughts.com.
