Not shown are Charles Pluenneke, Wayne Keller, and Jimmy Jordan. Thanks to Harvey Zesch for his article about the legendary James River Cowboys. Their annual fishing trip was well researched, and historically correct. However, three years earlier the Cowboys began having an annual horseback and wagon ride. After this, the event degenerated into the annual fishing trip. Also, Harvey failed to mention an incident that happened when they were in the Mason County parade. Many years ago a certain county clerk had ridden through our court house. Harvey said “history should be relived”. He tried to do the same thing but his horse would not climb the steps. Anyone desiring to know more about this organization can research copies of the Mason News of that era.
