City Planning Summer Recycling Days
Wednesday, July 15, 2009 • Posted July 15, 2009

Because of the enthusiasm and success of the Spring Clean-up a few months ago, the City of Mason is sponsoring another Free Dump Days on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18. The landfill will be accepting regular types of residential trash, debris and refuse with no charge, from 8 to 5 on Friday and from 8 to 3 on Saturday, but as always we can not accept any hazardous materials. In addition there will be a semi-trailer at the landfill both days for the collection of car and light truck tires (but no large truck tires nor any tires on rims). In March when the city had a special Recycling Day, two trailers were filled with over 2400 tires from around our community and we had to turn away some people, so we are collecting tires again this time at the landfill.

This is on a first come, first served basis and once the trailer is filled we will not be able to accept any more tires. This special collection is being funded by a Supplemental Environmental Project agreement with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and is being sponsored by the Hill Country Area RC&D, Inc. in conjunction with the City of Mason. Because of the extra efforts involved in this Free Dump Days, the city garbage trucks will be running the Friday route on Thursday this week only, so if this affects you please put your regular trash out a day early.

Remember also that the city Recycling Center is open every day for you to drop off of plastics, paper, cardboard, cans and glass. This is a good time to work on cleaning up around the community, so please take advantage to do your own cleaning and let the city help in your disposals, and if you have additional questions call the city office for more information.
