Down The Drain With Jane

Women have put a while lot of time and money on their faces. However, looking at photos from the past, this stated in the 20s. Looking at photos of grandmothers in the 1890s to the 1920s, one could see that they didn’t do anything for their faces. Seeing a photo of my grandmother Brandenberger, I saw a rather “washed out” face. I know the photo is in black and white, but you still could see that there was no color at all.

I started out being a Cover Girl. I’d wait for the door bell to ring with “Ding Dong, It’s Avon Calling!” I didn’t take heed in my Thirties to start using moisturizers. Mary Kay, Merle Norman, Estee Lauder and Elizabeth Arden, all told me to start taking steps to keep my youthful skin. Did I listen to them? No, not until OLAY, it hit me in my Forties. Why, there were crows feet, creases on my forehead and rusty elbow to boot.

It didn’t take me long after my discovery to start applying the moisturizers, toners, night time and daytime creams. I even fell for the AGE DEIFYING creams! However, I must admit, that try to defy the wrinkles wasn’t working. They just kept popping up! Though these creams really do make your face, wrinkles and all, feel soft as a babies behind. I had to learn the hard and expensive way that, one cannot defy ageing! Even if I’d moisturized in my late Twenties or early Thirties, I’d still get wrinkles in my Fifty’s with increasing into the Sixties. I saved my money then and I should have kept saving it now, too!

As usual, I’ll put on the war paint every morning and go to work. Just don’t want to look “Washed Out!”

P.S. Men don’t worry about wrinkles. But, I’ve noticed that older men with mustaches begin to look like Walrus! Take a closer look at them, they really do take on the look of a Walrus! Now, would I kid you? I wake up to a Walrus each morning! But, hopefully my Z won’t be a Bear, Too!
