Mason’s Gem of the Hill Country 5 & 10k Run/Walk – a Great Race in a Great Town
Wednesday, August 5, 2009 • Posted August 5, 2009

“I was amazed at the turnout given this was just the second year of the event.”

“The race was well-organized with friendly and knowledgeable volunteers, and a great course.”

Those were just some of the comments from participants regarding last year’s Gem of the Hill Country 5&10k Run/Walk in Mason. And, it’s going to be even better this year!

The Gem of the Hill Country 5&10k is scheduled for Saturday, October 3 at 8:00 a.m. Both the 5 and 10k runs/walks take place on mostly paved roads (1/4 mile dirt). The race starts and finishes near Mason’s Historic County Jail. The course is scenic and far from flat with a few challenging hills thrown in for fun.

Mason’s a great town to visit with its museums, restaurants, art and sundries shops. Heck, we even have a 9-hole golf course, for those inclined, and a historic movie house offering first rate shows for $4.50 – try finding that in San Antonio or Austin! Come visit and bring the family.

Race your heart out then have lunch at one of our many eateries and afterwards, check out the Square. You won’t be sorry on any account.
