Hospital Sets Free Injury Prevention, Sports Medicine Seminar

With school athletic programs gearing up for a new season, Hill Country Memorial Hospital will offer a free sports medicine seminar for middle school and high school athletes and their parents.

The seminar is set for Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center in Fredericksburg at 1006 S. State Hwy. 16. Topics include sports injuries, heat illness, sports nutrition, Biodex testing for determining muscle strength, physical therapy post-injury and post-surgery and women’s sports injuries.

Speakers will include:

•Orthopedic surgeons Steve Hoerster, MD, Charles Romanick, MD, Daniel Robertson, MD, and Joseph Cohn, MD, from Texas Hill Country Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, P.A

•Allan Dinsmore, MED, LAT, ATC; FISD athletic trainer

•Kim Thornton, RD, LD, CDE, Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator

•Brad Harding, PT, MPT, Cert. MDT, Interim Director for Hill Country Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Services

•Mark Ball, MSPT, from Fredericksburg Physical Therapy

•Ardra Hughes, PT, SCS, CSCS, from Sports Medicine & Physical Therapy of the Greater Texas Hill Country

Refreshments will be served, and reservations should be made by Aug. 17 by calling theWellness Center at 830-997-1355.
