The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, August 4th, for its monthly business meeting. There were 33 members and 1 visitor in attendance.

"Boss Lion" Chris Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report. At the directors meeting, they voted to buy the eye screening device that was demonstrated last week. The Lions Club will use this instrument to help detect eye problems of young children in the area. More on this to come later. The 5k-10k Run was discussed, this will be held Sat. Oct. 3rd. This will be our 3rd Annual Walk/Run event and is our major fund-raiser. Anyone interested in participating or for more information can contact Eva Tannehill at etannehill@9mail.com.

The club's meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be Denwood Butler.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
