Chamber Hires New Office Manager
Wednesday, August 19, 2009 • Posted August 19, 2009

Missy Gibbs, of Mason, has been named the new Office Manager of the Mason County Chamber of Commerce by its Board of Directors.

Missy was born and raised in North Texas living most of her younger years along with two younger sisters in the small town of Ovilla. She attended school in DeSoto and participated in many school and community activities with the majority of her time spent on the softball field playing on a nationally competitive softball team. After graduating from DeSoto High School in 1998, she headed off to San Marcos to attend Southwest Texas State University, now known as Texas State, to work towards a college degree.

During her collegiate years at Texas State, Missy was very active with her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta and other campus life activities. She graduated in August of 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Sports Science and a minor in Health Education. She had planned on pursuing a career in the education field but had a change of heart and moved to the Weatherford area to follow in her father’s footsteps and pursue a career in the financial field. Missy worked for BBVA Compass where she specialized in financial sales and services, training and development, customer service management and banking acquisition and merger development.

She holds a Series 7 broker’s license and Texas Life and Accidental Health Insurance license. Missing the Hill Country, Missy moved to Mason to be near her college sweetheart in February. Before joining the Chamber, she worked at a bank in Fredericksburg as a retail banker.

Missy loves the idea of working for the Chamber of Commerce for Mason County. She is excited about building a strong relationship with both the residential and business community, and providing great visitor hospitality. She enjoys working with people and has a passion for the culture and history of the area. Missy would enjoy the opportunity to meet each and everyone in her community and invites everyone to stop by and say hello.

The Board of Directors would also like to take this time and give a special thanks to Amy Whitaker, and Carrie Smith for their hard work and dedication to the Chamber and their community. Amy and Carrie will be heading back to school this semester and we wish them the best of luck. Thank you from all of us at the Mason County Chamber of Commerce!
