Rev. Krause’s sermon was titled “Stand Firm in the Faith.” The scripture lesson from Ephesians 6:10-20 is the continuation of last week’s lesson. Pastor Mark reminded us of Paul’s rules for believers: Know and understand the Lord’s will for your life, be filled with the Holy Spirit, give to God the praise and thanksgiving and submit all things to Christ.

To these rules we must add to stand firm in the faith. Share your testimony with others. Paul, in Acts 19, was visiting with the disciples of the church at Ephesus for the third time and realized that they had not been told about the Holy Spirit. They had been baptized into John’s baptism, the baptism of repentance. So Paul baptized them again in the name of the Lord Jesus. He laid his hands on them and the Holy Spirit came down on them and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. Paul continued to preach the Gospel in the Synagogue and went into the streets, preaching to all who would listen. The Lord healed many people of their diseases and removed many evil spirits.

The church grew because they were filled with the Lord and had great faith. They resisted the sin that was rampant in the city. They kept working for the Lord. They fed the poor, treated the sick, extolling and magnifying the name of the Lord.

But the second generation began to fall away. They needed to be reminded that their will was to do God’s will forever. They needed the guidance of the Holy Spirit. They needed to thank God for his guidance and love. They needed to live the life of love.

Keep motivated to stand firm in the faith. It begins with our love for God. His love will keep you going in the right direction, God’s direction with God’s wisdom. May God empower you with His love and wisdom.
