The Mason Lions Club met Tuesday, September 1st, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 31 members and 0 visitors in attendance.

"Boss" Lion Chris Dyer was responsible for the program and Secretary/Treasure. Gene Gammill read the minutes and gave the financial report.

County Judge Jerry Bearden informed the club that L.C.R.A. was looking into putting a new electric transmission line through Mason where the existing line is currently run. This new line would take an extra 140 ft. easement along with the current 60 ft. and the lattice type tower which are about twice to three times larger than the existing pole structures. These lines and tower would run through or next to some of our homes and property. This should be of concern to all citizens of Mason County. To get more information contact Judge Bearden.

The Club's next meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8th, at noon at Zavala's. The program chairman will be John Copeland.

The Mason Lions Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also, please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
