I guess all the pessimists who were saying, “It’s just not going to rain anymore.” Are now saying, “I sure wish it would stop raining.” You just can’t please some folks, no matter what!
Here Z and I are with 52 channels of television to choose from and all he wants to watch is Fox News. We were a happy couple with just the one television station out of Austin. However, I thought we needed this and that and movies, so thus we got the Satellite TV. Folks, I sometimes think “WRONG” and this was one of them. Now, our provider has taken off Bull Riding. So, we’re really down to FOX NEWS. Maybe I can ask Bill O’Reiley to give the stats of the PBR once a week?
The other day I saw Hoppy at the grocery store and he spoke words of wisdom about the cost of groceries. He said, “ We need to be drinking more whiskey, I think it’s cheaper than food!” He may just have a good point there.
When Branden, my oldest son had the colic the pediatrician I had, told me to put a teaspoon of whiskey in warm water with sugar and that should do it. Then he also told me to mix me a drink and that would calm me down. Then when Branden was teething, that same Dr. told me to take a clean washcloth and dip it into the whiskey and rub it on his gums and then make me a drink and settle down.
Whiskey was used for “Medicinal” purposes in the past. They didn’t pop a pill for this and for that. They had a shot of whiskey. I know that whiskey was used for tooth aches and for helping numb the pain for childbirth and when they had to dig something out of you. Whiskey was the disinfectant that cleaned the pocket knives to dig the whatever out of you and was also used to disinfect the wound or sore. Too, tobacco spat was good when you got stung. Plus, cigarette smoke blown in the ear would help an earache.
So there you are folk’s tobacco and whiskey is of some good use. Okay, O’Bladder, this medical plan worked for our parents and grandparents. And to think you went and upped the tax on tobacco! Shame on you, double shame on you. Why triple shame on you.
P.S. Wet and cooler weather is good medicine, too! So, enjoy!!!!
