Cyclists Heading from Mason to Ft. Davis
Wednesday, September 16, 2009 • Posted September 16, 2009

Four cyclists left Mason at 8:00 a.m. Monday, heading west. Destination, Ft. Davis.

The four day, Sept. 14 - Sept. 21, 526 mile trip, will include overnight stays in Eldorado, Iraan, Sanderson, and Alpine. They will reach Ft. Davis on Friday, Sept. 18, where they will then ride to Balmorhea State Park. The next day they will ride in the annual Ft. Davis Cyclefest.

Sunday concludes with the Hill Climb up Mt. Lock to the McDonald Observatory. And it is indeed a hill climb. Not quite the Alps, but the fans are just as enthusiastic cheering the riders on.

The cycling trip has been in the planning for the past year. Pictured left to right are: Jack Moore, Austin (driving the support vehicle for the riders); Tony Plutino, Mason; Rollie Morgan, Mason; Charles Laurence, Lockhart; and Pete Ralph, San Antonio.

They also left town after being cheered on by Cindy Morris’s art class. A really nice send off I think.
